The brand has become one of the most prominent fashion houses of the 21st century and it comes to no surprise that there are many fakes out there. Unsure if a particular YSL bag is authentic? We\u2019re here to help!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Point 1: <em>Check the monogram<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since 1961, the YSL monogram has been a constant in the House\u2019s designs. Not only has it become synonymous to the brand, it has also become a symbol of elegance and sophistication. With so many of the House\u2019s designs sporting the monogram, it should be one of the first few features you check when authenticating a YSL bag.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a rule of thumb, the YSL monogram should always be centred on an authentic bag.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are a few elements of the monogram that you should take note of:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The left arm of the letter \u2018Y\u2019 is always thicker than its right;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The left arm of the letter \u2018Y\u2019 lies beneath the letter \u2018S\u2019 while its right arm lies above;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The leg of the letter \u2018Y\u2019 lies above the letter \u2018S\u2019;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The letter \u2018S\u2019 overlaps the letter \u2018L\u2019 on top and then tucks behind it;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The letter \u2018L\u2019 starts wide at the top and narrows as it reaches the bottom.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Note that the presence or absence of four mock nail heads in the monogram (see left photo below) is not an indication of the bag\u2019s authenticity.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1920\" style=\"width: 859px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1920\" class=\"wp-image-1920\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eco-ring.kr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/YSL-Monogram.png\" alt=\"ysl-monogram\" width=\"849\" height=\"394\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1920\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Authentic YSL Monogram<\/p><\/div>\n<h4><strong>Point 2:<em> Check the heat stamp<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Saint Laurent heat stamp should feature a font that is neat and well-defined. It is important to note that the letters \u2018T\u2019 and \u2018N\u2019 in the words \u2018SAINT LAURENT\u2019 should be touching. In addition, the right leg of the letter \u2018R\u2019 in \u2018SAINT LAURENT\u2019 should be curved while that of the letter \u2018R\u2019 in \u2018PARIS\u2019 should be straight. Do note that vintage models would feature the old brand logo \u2018YVES SAINT LAURENT\u2019 in the heat stamp instead.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1921\" style=\"width: 859px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1921\" class=\"wp-image-1921\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eco-ring.kr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Modern-YSL-Heat-Stamp.png\" alt=\"modern-ysl-heat-stamp\" width=\"849\" height=\"392\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1921\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Heat stamp found on the underside of the flap of an authentic pre-loved YSL bag.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other than being directly embossed onto the leather of the bag, heat stamps can also be found on leather labels stitched securely onto the interior of authentic YSL bags. When purchasing a pre-owned bag, it is normal for the interior label to be slightly faded due to normal wear and tear.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1922\" style=\"width: 859px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1922\" class=\"wp-image-1922\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eco-ring.kr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/YSL-Interior-Labels.png\" alt=\"ysl-interior-labels\" width=\"849\" height=\"393\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1922\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Authentic modern YSL interior labels (top left and top right) and vintage interior labels (bottom left and bottom right).<\/p><\/div>\n<h4><strong>Point 3: <em>Check the serial number tag<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For vintage bags, the serial number can be found embossed on the opposite side of the interior brand label. On the other hand, for modern bags, the serial number would be found on another leather tag stitched onto the opposite side of the brand label.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Modern handbags would feature 3 letters and then 10 digits separated by a dot, or 10 digits separated by a dot where the first 6 digits denote the style and the next 4 digits denote the date code. Vintage handbags such as the Muse or the Cabas Chyc would feature 12 digits separated by a dot.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, the phrase \u201cmade in italy\u201d should also be clearly embossed below the serial number. For bags that feature the quilted stitching such as the Lou Camera Bag and the Envelope, ensure that the stitching patterns are parallel to each other.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1924\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eco-ring.kr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/YSL-stitching.png\" alt=\"ysl-stitching\" width=\"849\" height=\"390\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Point 5: <em>Check the hardware\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Authentic Saint Laurent bags should feature high quality hardware, majority of which are in antiqued \/ matte finishings.
